Sunday Funday: March 30/14

Hi there! A lot of people say that you shouldn’t apologise after being away from your blog for so long, but I just can’t help it. So I’m sorry. Yeah. I can’t believe I’ve been gone for a week. I just needed to take a bit of a break to sort through some stuff and figure out my voice again. But I’m back, thank goodness. I’ve missed blogging so much.

This week hasn’t been all that eventful if I’m being quite honest. I got back from Montebello Sunday afternoon feeling absolutely amazing. Even though I had only been away for less than 24 hours, it was nice to just relax, distance myself from all my responsibilities, and just enjoy some peace and quiet for a change. Below are a few snaps of my little getaway… Unfortunately, I was a bit too busy to actually take that many and didn’t take any of my heavenly brunch or of our fun time tubing… Oops.

The view from my room
Down the halls... you can just ignore the cleaning stuff on the right, ha.
The impressive ceiling I take photos of every time

I wish I had gotten the chance to just sit there with the dim lighting and write and write and write. Maybe next year...
I'm kind of in love with the headboard...
I actually really want a t-shirt with this print (this was our floor, by the way)

I’ve been listening to so much music lately, it’s kind of insane. I’ve had Ellie Goulding’s album HalyconDays on repeat for days now and I just can’t get over her breathy and flawless voice. After a few listens, I’ve managed to narrow down my favourites to “Explosions,” “Joy,” “House Without Chains,” and "Midas Touch." I just find them to be such powerful and beautiful songs, you know? So thank you to Melody for giving me the push to give Ellie Goulding a closer listen. :)

Music aside, I’ve also been reading some more (no surprise there). It’s become a thing for my friends to tease me about my Wattpad obsession and I have even managed to get a few of them as well as my little brother into it, as well. I haven’t read many stand out stories this week aside from “Riley and the Boys” which is actually based in Vancouver, which I found to be very cool. It’s a story about a girl who is forced to move halfway across the country to live with her mom’s best friend’s family that just happens to have eight gorgeous boys.

Yesterday, after having heard of it through The Unputdownable Book Club, I picked up “The Interestings” by Meg Wolitzer which seems like such a fascinating book. Since I’m into art and fashion, the story definitely intrigued me. As teenagers, we’re so driven and bright and young, but as we grow up and whatever artistic talent we have grows with us. It’s definitely going to be interesting to read about those who ignore it and become more “practical” and those who embrace it as a part of who they are.

Anyway, small talk aside, I’m so glad that April is nearly here, but at the same time, holy crap. It’s nearly April. That means almost a quarter of the year, 25% is nearly over. It’s just a bit crazy for me to think about. I was such a slacker this month on my resolutions and just about everything else, so I can’t be more excited for an excuse to start over and get back into working out, blogging, and just feeling like myself again. You know that groggy and just plain icky feeling you get when you haven’t been eating well and/or haven’t been working out? Well, that’s how I’ve been feeling and I can’t wait to change that.

Do you have any other music recommendations? If you've listened to Ellie Goulding, which songs are your favourite? (You know who you are.) Have you heard of "The Interestings?" Thoughts? Leave your comments below!

Thank you so much for reading!

  1. I don't know if I'm the Melody you're referring to, I remember giving you music recommendations but don't remember myself talking about Ellie Goulding...anyway, I love her songs even though I haven't gone through all her songs yet. My favorites are "I Know You Care" and "Burn". I really love her airy but powerful voice!

    1. Oh gosh, it must've been something else... haha. Oh! It was the book, "The Quirky Tale of April Hale" I think that you mentioned. Wow, that's embarrassing. :P I read the book by the way! It was pretty sweet. :) - J
