Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Close Encounters

Pretty Little Liars
Image Credit: ABC Family (via IB Times)
Hi there! It's been quite some time since I've done a PLL fashion recap, hasn't it? I've decided to change the format a bit from simply writing about the fashion to actually recreating three outfits every two weeks. This week, I'll be talking to you about Spencer, Aria, and Emily's style in the latest episode, "Close Encounters."

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Now You See Me, Now You Don't

Hi there! Tuesday was the PLL summer finale and let me tell you - it was intense. Quite a few questions got answered, which was surprising for PLL, but the answers left me (and a good chunk of the Twitterverse) in shock. Not because the twists were really that shocking (in my opinion), but they were some quite big cliffhangers that I have to wait until October 22nd to get some answers. Not that I'm expecting to because, let's face it, it's Pretty Little Liars.

You probably didn't come here to hear me ramble, so let's get into this week's fashion!

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Bring Down the Hoe

Hi there! This post was quite the stressful one to write, but here it is! The PLL fashion recaps are back! Well, next week's the last one because the show's going on hiatus for a few freaking long months, but hey, what can you do?

Joking complaints aside, this week's fashion had a bit of a country bumpkin vibe to it, but I'm going to show you some ways to make it a bit more wearable. Keep on reading if you're interested!

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Gamma Zetta Die

Hi there!  Here is this week's Pretty Little Liars fashion recap (as you could probably tell from the title!  If you haven't already seen this episode, I highly recommend that you do because it was freaking amazing and you will not believe what happened at the end.  It was crazy, and that's saying something considering that it is PLL.

If you read my post yesterday (which I highly recommend that you do so you're up to date on what's going on), you'd know that I'm currently on a long vacation on the other side of the world.  So that means I can only post four times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) and that these fashion recaps will have to be put on hold until I get back.  I'm really sorry about that, but I hope that you'll enjoy this anyway!

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Face Time

Hi there!  I'm really sorry that this is up late, but here it is!  Your PLL fashion recap!  This week's episode was called Face Time, which made a lot of sense because the masks were pretty much the main focus of the episode.  It was such an intense and crazy episode and I'm more confused than ever.  Not that that's much of a surprise considering it is Pretty Little Liars.

Now on to the recap because that's what you came here for.  Enjoy!

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Cat's Cradle

Hi there!  The clothes in this week's episode was simply spectacular, but what isn't so spectacular is how there are literally no head-to-toe shots of what the characters wore that are decent quality.  In addition to that, the YouTube videos were even worse quality, so it was really hard to get a decent screenshot.  Anywho, that's why, just as a warning for all of you, the photos are either of the top half of the character or pretty bad quality.  I'm sorry for that, but something is better than nothing.  At least, that's how I think.

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: Turn of the Shoe

Pretty Little Liars PLL 4x02

Another week went by, so that means a new Pretty Little Liars episode aired.  You'd think that the show was popular enough for there to be photos online of what the characters were wearing so fashion bloggers obsessed with the show could use them to blog about the episodes... but no, it clearly isn't.  Anyway, like last week, I'm going to be sharing photos of what the characters wore and I'm going to be sharing my thoughts.

Since there weren't many photos online of what the Liars wore, I had to screenshot YouTube videos, so that's why the photos aren't of amazing quality.  But something's better than nothing, right?

Anyway, if you want to see what they wore or what I have to say, keep on reading!

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap: A is for A-L-I-V-E

Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Fashion Episode 1

Hi there!  I'm a pretty big Pretty Little Liars addict and naturally, after the incredibly intense season premiere Tuesday night, I wanted to share you a more close-up look of the fashion in the premiere.  Just to clarify, this isn't going to be the kind of posts where the bloggers religiously hunt down the pieces that the actresses wore because there are so many blogs (specifically tumblr's) out there that would do a much better job then I would.  I'm simply going to be talking about the amazing fashion in these episodes.

I'd just like to point out that the photo above is such a classic PLL shot.  They're at a funeral (they seem to attend at least one per season) and they're all on their phones after getting a text from A.  Typical.

Just a quick little message beforehand... I couldn't find any photos of Tuesday's episode online that would work for this post, so I had to take screenshots.  All photos without "Image Credit" underneath them belong to ABC Family.  Now on to the fashion recap!

Fashion Star Finale: The Winner is Revealed!

(From left to right: Hunter, Cassandra, and Daniel)

To be honest, when I first turned on the TV to watch Fashion Star last night, I didn't really have a favourite designer or someone I was "hardcore" rooting for.  I really understand Daniel's vision and what he stands for.  I've always loved Hunter's designs, even the super safe ones.  And Cassandra, well, she's Canadian and awesome.

Last night, the three competed to win a $3 million contract to have their capsule collections in Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Express.  It's the biggest prize on a fashion show out there.  The "challenge" was to create three head-to-toe looks for each of the three retailers and the buyers would decide after seeing all the collections who the next Fashion Star will be.

Met Ball 2013: How Fashion Embraced Punk [and My Favourite Looks]

Large

All last week, I've been eagerly anticipating Monday night when I would be able to look at all the beautiful clothes that Hollywood and fashion's big names were going to wear.  I was also really excited to see how the attendees were going to embrace this year's theme: punk.  It's definitely a lot more straightforward than last year's Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations theme, but on the flipside, it's quite.. out there.

This theme begs the question: What is punk?  According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it's relating to or being a style (as of dress or hair) inspired by punk rock.  A lot of people have also mentioned that to them, punk is simply rebellion, freedom, and edge, and I completely agree.

It only hit me how big of a deal the MET Ball was today while I was watching the livestream.  André Leon Talley started the whole process of picking what he was going to wear in February. February.  Crazy, but absolutely amazing, of course.

Cara Delevingne wearing Burberry

My jaw literally dropped when I saw her dress.  The studs just made the dress so punk, yet so classy, which is quite a masterful combination when it works.  Absolutely stunning.

Elle Fanning wearing Rodarte

If you read my Elle Fanning post last month, you probably know that I'm obsessed with her sense of style, so you could probably imagine how much I geeked out when she appeared on my computer screen.  The standout part of her ensemble for me was her intricate ear cuff.  I'm a huge fan of ear cuffs, so I was ecstatic when I saw that she was sporting one tonight.

Hailee Steinfeld wearing Donna Karen Atelier

It's definitely not what I envision when I think of punk, but I absolutely loved the gold safety pins on this cream dress.  I'll probably do some kind of DIY of something similar soon, so be on the look out for that if you're interested.

Taylor Swift wearing J. Mendel

I love Taylor Swift's classic and feminine style, despite how safe she seems to play it when it comes to it.  I thought that she'd be one of the few that wouldn't embrace the punk theme, so I was pretty surprised to see what she wore last night.  I loved the cut-outs, but how everything was balanced out with the heaving beading up top.  It's such a unique dress and I'm so happy that she stepped out of her comfort zone for the Met Ball.

Here are a few other favourites of mine from the night...

Kate Bosworth wearing Balmain

Anne Hathaway wearing a 1992 vintage Valentino

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Giles Deacon

Alexa Chung wearing Erdem

Sienna Miller wearing Burberry

Miley Cyrus wearing Marc Jacobs

Thanks for reading!  Let me know in the comments which ensemble was your favourite, I'm curious.

Fashion Star Week 8: Menswear Dilemma

I'm a huge fan of the reality/talent show Fashion Star.  If you've never heard of it before, it's basically where a group of fashion designers are selected to compete in ten weeks of challenges.  They are put into groups  mentored by Nicole Richie, John Varvatos, and Jessica Simpson and every week, they have to get bought by the buyers from Saks, Macy's or Express to be immune to elimination.  Of course, there are some exceptions, but that's the basic gist of it.  Also, the designs that get bought are sold at the stores that bought them, which is a really cool aspect of the show that I really like.  I will include the links underneath the photos of the pieces if you guys are interested in checking them out.

This week, the challenge was to design pieces for both women's and menswear.  Some of the designers haven't even stepped close to designing menswear, like Hunter, so it was definitely really interesting to see how they would cope under the pressure.
