5 Basic Closet Staples that I Need to Get

Image Credit: Maegan Tintari via Flickr CC

Hi there! I'm known amongst my close friends and family to shop for statement pieces. It's just been a habit of mine that works conveniently for my eclectic style. However, most basic and staple pieces don't often go on sale (if at all), so I'm severely lacking in those, something that I've only recently discovered. For some people, not buying statement pieces totally works for their style, but the whole 100% minimalist thing is not really my thing, but I still need those basic pieces to build my outfit on top of.

Keep reading for a look at a few of the closet staples that I really do need to get my hands on ASAP.

How to: Make Your Legs Look Longer

Hi there! As not only a short girl, but one with legs that are short as heck, I struggle with how to make my legs look long a lot. I've gotten the short jokes and comments all throughout middle school and high school and while they don't necessarily bother me, I still try hard to elongate those short legs of mine. I'm surely not the only one with the problem and I've learned a few tips over the years, so keep reading to find out what they are!

Fashion Tips that Just Don't Work for Canadians

Hi there! If you read blogs (which I'm assuming you do if you're reading this right now!) or watch YouTube videos, you know that around this time of the year, there are a bunch of tips on how to bundle up for the cold weather. Some of them, however, just aren't enough for us Canadians here up north.

No offense was intended to any other bloggers, of course. I just thought I'd try something a bit different. Oh, and if you combine a bunch of these tips (save for a few exceptions), you might be able to survive out in the harsh Canadian winter, or anywhere else that's frigid during this time of the year and will remain this way for the next two and a half months.

Quick Tips for Black Friday Shopping

Hi there! It's a tradition for me every year since fifth or sixth grade, I believe, to go to the States and do some Black Friday shopping. Since we're crazy Canadians, we usually leave our place at around 8 pm, give or take a bit, and head over there in time for midnight or so and shop for a, uh, few hours.

Since Black Friday is nearly here and I have quite a few years of experience, I thought I'd share with you some tips to help make your shopping experience just a bit better.

How to: Pick Yourself Up From a Failure

Image Credit: Dia via Flickr CC
Hi there! Failure is something that we all face at one point or another, whether it's a big let-down or a milder one. Failure can really mess you up if you can't get yourself into the right mentality to get out of that situation.

Everyone has faced failure before and I know how hard it can be, which is why I decided to put together this post all about how to get yourself out of the rut. Enjoy!

How to: Be Less of a (Crazy) Perfectionist

Image Credit: Trey Ratcliff via Flickr
Hi there! I've called myself a perfectionist for the longest time and if asked, I'll still call myself one. Whenever I do something, I like it to be perfect and to showcase the best of my abilities, but that desire often came with a mountain of stress and a byotchy attitude that just isn't good for anyone.

In the past year, I've told myself something and did others that helped relieve that stress and all in all simply become less of a perfectionist. But don't confuse being less of a perfectionist with slacking off and being lazy - they aren't the same thing. You can (or at least I believe you still can) strive to do you best while being a bit less hardcore and perfectionistic about it, and I'm about to share with you how.

Back to School: Supplies and School + Organisation Tips!

Hi there! A few weeks ago, a reader asked me to write about school and organisation tips, so that's what I'm here to share with you all today along with what school supplies I'm using this year. I always get really excited to see what other people use to stay organised and succeed in school (or life in general) so I hope that you'll enjoy this post as much as I've enjoyed writing it. I've done something similar last year, so if you'd like to check that out, you can do so right here.

While I believe that it's never too late to change your ways, it's also a really good idea to start off on the right foot so you don't have to go through the trouble of picking yourself back up and sorting through the mess of a whole you've dug yourself to get yourself together.

What I'm about to share with you is just a list of things that I've found to help me throughout my freshman year of high school, so just they might not be totally applicable to you, but I hope that you'll be able to get something out of this post to get you excited and organised this upcoming school year.

Now let's get started.

Back to School: Freshman Advice

Image Credit: Gioia Dean Toniis via PhotoPin CC
Hi there! The other day, I asked my friend for ideas on what posts to write for my back to school series and an advice post was included on that list. Since I’m only going to be a sophomore (by the way, isn’t that word so pretty?), I didn’t think it’d be appropriate to title this a general high school advice post because I’ve only been through one year of school. While I’ve only survived through one year of high school, I’ve still learned a lot and to any upcoming freshmen, I hope that this will help you out before you start this new and exciting chapter of your life.

Of course, even if you aren’t a freshman, there are still little bits and bobs that pertain to anyone going into high school, so don’t discount (check definition) this post even if you aren’t a wide-eyed fourteen year old, most likely freaking out about the scary halls of high school – they really aren’t that scary, trust me.

Basically, in this relatively long post, I’ll be telling you about my personal freshman experience and sharing what I learned. Let’s get into this!

Hi there! It’s the start of the week, so I thought it’d be appropriate to post this now. Something that I really, really love writing are lists. I write a least one everyday and it’s usually a to-do list. Sometimes, okay a lot of the times, they’re really specific and ambitious, but lately, I’ve found ways to make them more manageable and realistic so I can check everything off my list by the end of the day. Writing to-do lists are great ways to stay organised, so here are a few of the tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years.

7 Quick Tips for Organising Your Agenda

sweetest melodies

Hi there! As you’ve heard me say before, an agenda is essential in anyone’s life, whether or not you’re a student or not. Those of you who are students, however, have probably just finished your first week of school from the break and you might want to get yourselves organised.

Remember those agendas that the school always gave us? Well, they were the start of my obsession with agendas started early and I’ve been using them ever since. I picked up quite a few tricks here and there to make sure that I make the most out of my agenda, and now, I can help you with yours. Only if you want it, of course.

Google Image Result for http://favim.com/orig/201106/22/floral-pattern-piano-typewriter-vintage-writing-machine-Favim.com-79331.jpg

Hi there! It’s crazy to me that 2013 is almost over, but one must ignore that to actually get over it and start the New Year off fresh and make it better than the last. Or at least that’s how I think.

It’s been tradition for me to write New Year’s resolutions for years now, so this year is no different. I’m sure that’s the same for many of you out there, but honestly and quite unfortunately, I forget about them by the end of January. Anyone else who’s like that? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Because of my constant failures in keeping up with my resolutions, I decided to change that for 2014. Here are a few things that I kept in mind while making mine.

you are beautiful | via Tumblr

Hi there! A few, well, two, people have asked me to write this post and it has been long overdue. I know that it can be really hard to get to work sometimes and once you get to work, the balance between working too hard and not thinking about your health can also be damaging. I'm no expert, but I have been going to school for a while now, so here are a few things I've found helpful these past few years.

Fashion & Luxury

Hi there! I'm usually one to tell you to go out there, be crazy, and be YOU with your style, but there are some times when going all out is just not the right thing to do. It can lead to really awkward situations, cringe-worthy embarrassment, or just display plain disrespect.

Here are a few situations that could potentially lead to emotional turmoil if you're not careful with what you wear.

5 Ways to Beat the Sunday Terrors

fuck in the taxi

Hi there! This post was inspired by one that I saw on the Man Repeller the other day about the Sunday Terrors. For me, the Sunday Terrors is simply just feeling overwhelmed on a Sunday, procrastinating, and simply not being productive. Amelia Diamond's definition seems to have alcohol consumption mixed it with that, but we can just leave that part out.

Because I do get the Terrors myself about once every few weeks, I've learned my way around it and some tips here and there that have helped. Here are a few that I've found really helpful!

How to: Find The Perfect Winter Jacket

asian fashion | Tumblr

Hi there! Even though it might still feel like fall where you are, it's always a good idea to plan ahead and think about the upcoming season: winter. Where I live, our winters are pretty darn rigorous and downright cold, so having a jacket that keeps me warm is a must.

If you're in need of a new winter jacket this year, here is a little guide to help you along the way.
