Hi there! We’ve all had those moments when we’re staring at
the abundance of clothes in our closets and think that despite all the clothes
that surround you, you have absolutely nothing to wear. It’s a struggle for us
all, so I decided that today, I’d share with you my top tips for getting rid of
that nasty bug before it can evolve into something worse and make you late for
wherever you’re going or something as equally awful.
1. Know what you’re
dressing for
This one is pretty obvious, but it’s really important to
know what kind of event you’re dressing for and what kind of dress code there
is, whether it’s school, work, a party, etc. It’s also a good idea to check the
weather for the day to see if you have to work around what Mother Nature
decides to throw your way.
2. Check your
Instagram or lookbook.nu feed
If you follow people who are in the fashion industry on
Instagram, it could be really helpful to give you some inspiration, same with
lookbook.nu. Even if you don’t follow
fashion people on Instagram, some other famous people probably post OOTDs, so
you can take inspiration from that instead.
3. Check your
Bloglovin’ feed
If you follow fashion blogs, check that feed because TONS of
people post about their outfits, so you’re sure to get some kind of inspiration
from them.
4. Centre an outfit
around one single item
Sometimes, spontaneity can lead to something really great,
so if you’re thinking too much about what to wear, just randomly pick a piece
from your closet. Then, using that as the centre of your outfit, build an
outfit around it.
5. Lay out your
clothes the night before
I don’t know about you, but I much prefer staying up late
the night before to make sure my attire for the next day’s perfect rather than
freaking out in the morning because when you freak out in the morning, it just
completely ruins it and isn’t a great start to your day. Of course, it’s not a
good idea to stay up so late that you sleep through your alarm, thus making you
late for wherever you have to go to, which could equally put a damper on your
mood for the rest of the day.
6. Go shopping
Okay, this might not the ideal option if you’re looking at
your closet the morning before school because let’s face it – we don’t have the
luxury to drive to the mall at 7 am just to buy some clothes for the day.
However, this is a helpful tip if you have something to go to a bit later in
the day or at night.
Also, if you go back and look at your closet and you realise
that you really don’t have any clothes, like if they just don’t fit or aren’t
in wearing condition anymore, maybe it’s time to get yourself a few new items.
Obviously, you don’t want to go on a crazy shopping spree and spend money you
don’t have for clothes you don’t need, so please do yourself a favour and make
this decision when you’re in the right state of mind, as in when you’re not
running around your room trying to figure out what to wear.
Which tip did you find the most helpful? Do you have any ideas for when you have nothing to wear? How often do you "catch the bug?" Leave your comments below!
