Hi there! I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a pretty good
week. I thought that summer school would feel really long and tiring, but it
surprisingly went by really, really fast. Like I can’t quite believe that it’s
already the weekend, even if today is its
last day. I don’t know if I’m really happy I got the break or not because at
this point, I almost just want to go to summer school everyday so I can get it
done and over with.
But that’s probably just me.
The days are pretty tiring, and I guess it’s because I don’t
get home until about 5 and have to be in school, like learning an extra hour
per day, but I’m comforted by the fact that it’ll all be worth it in the end.
Besides, I get to see my best friends everyday even if they aren’t in the same class as me and that
hadn’t happened all year, so it really is worth it. While I’m incredibly happy
at my high school right now, but I can’t help but miss the old people, you
know? The past week and a bit has been really great for that and I’m really
glad.
What I’m learning at summer school is pretty interesting,
though. Okay, Civics is dull, there’s no question about it, but learning how
the government works and all that is important, so I’m not going to complain
about that. It’s really the Careers course where you learn about yourself,
future careers, etc. and they “prepare” you for the future that I get really excited
about.
So far, we’ve done extensive personality tests and learned
about future careers that would suit us after answering like over a hundred
questions. The test wasn’t that
accurate, but it got the basic gist of what I wanted to do with my future. My
first two choices were so weird, though – it told me that I should either be an
activist or a communications specialist. But further down the list, I got
things that I was actually interested in like becoming an art director or image
consultant (kind of like a publicist), and right at number 15, I got fashion
designer. I was pretty happy that the career that I actually wanted to pursue
showed up on the list.
Then, we’re supposed to pick a career that we were
interested in and basically make a presentation about it and I’m really, really
excited about it. The presentation’s tomorrow (everything is really fast-paced
at summer school because the curriculum normally taught in half a school year
is being presented to you in fifteen days) and I just can’t wait to get up in
front of the class and just ramble on (well, not actually) about my career of choice.
Which, if you couldn’t already tell, is a fashion designer.
School aside, I haven’t gotten to do much this week. I
caught up with Pretty Little Liars and it’s actually starting to look like a
good season, especially with the 100th episode. Obviously, it’s PLL,
so they drop twenty million red herrings for the fans to go berserk over and
then they’ll have a crazy plot twist that will make no sense in the finale, but
it’s moving along and (spoiler alert!) with Alison back in town and back at
Rosewood High, things are definitely getting more interesting.
But that doesn’t stop me from getting annoyed at how
unrealistic the show is and how
stupidly the girls (except for Spencer the majority of the time) act a lot of
the time. My math teacher told us never to put ourselves in a situation where
our integrity could be questioned (ie. innocently sharing an eraser during a
test) and the Liars should really take heed of that advice.
I also haven’t been to the gym as often as I would’ve liked
to. I usually brought my gym bag with me and went right after school so I
wouldn’t really have a choice to go home and slack off. But now, due to some
transportation complications, I can’t go right after school and it’s not even
that I’m slacking off – I’ll just be completely beat by the time my mom comes
to pick me up and might even fall asleep on the ride home.
And nobody really wants to work out right after waking up
from a nap.
Speaking of working out, I might be starting to go with my
friends soon, which is really, really exciting for me. Most of my friends
actually got summer memberships to the gym, so we can all go together now,
which will just be awesome. Sometimes, working out alone can get a bit dull, so
going to a class or something with a friend is going to be a nice change. And I
know I’ve said “really, really excited/exciting/other positive word” a lot, but
it’s because I’m feeling really inspired with my life right now and have been
for a while now and it’s a really great feeling.
Yesterday, I went to a friend’s birthday party which was
pretty great. She’s someone I just met this year at school and is absolutely
hilarious with the craziest and prettiest curly hair I’ve ever seen. We were
celebrating her fifteenth and it was just a really fun and intimate gathering
(okay that made me sound like an old lady) complete with pizza, cake, a movie,
and a good old game of Mafia. Actually, no, that’s a lie. We must’ve played at
least ten rounds, but it was fun nonetheless.
That pretty much sums up my week, except I wrote a bit for
Camp NaNoWriMo here and there and also kept up with the World Cup. Speaking of
which, the final is today and while I’m not cheering for anyone in particular,
I’m excited to watch it and I hope you will be, too.
