Hi there! Uhm, uhm, how is it that I’m fifteen now? I kind
of can’t believe that I’m turning fifteen today. I feel like that number is
such a big step from a measly fourteen and I feel like the time I have left in
high school is already too short and it’s kind of (really) scary. But like
everything else, I’ll learn to deal with it.
Yes, I know that I turned 15 like last week, but I wasn't able to post this on the day of unfortunately due to my blog being down, but here it is anyway. I figured that I wasn't going to write a huge post and not post it, so yeah. :)

This past year was definitely a big year for me because I’ve
grown so much and I’ve become so much more comfortable with who I am. I’ve
always known that I’m that fashion freak (and proud of it!) and I’ve always had
my priorities and values straight. But if there’s one thing about the whole
fashion fiasco that bothered me the most, it was that surprised look that would
flash across everyone’s faces whenever I shared with them my plans for the
future that used to make me so uncomfortable on so many levels and
self-conscious.
After a while, I got used to it and just stopped caring, so
that was one step that started a bit before I turned fourteen and was completed
pretty early on this year, actually, so I’m pretty proud of that.
I’m also really proud of how I got my lazy non-athletic butt
to the gym. I’ve always been the girl who absolutely sucked at gym class and I
can’t quite believe that I’ve now gotten into the habit of going pretty
regularly to the gym. I’ve also started eating so much healthier and feel so
much better now. I’m so much happier now than I was before and I’m so, so happy
about it.
I know that I’ve kind of neglected Style Generis this year with school and everything, but it’s been
one of the highlights of my year. Blogging makes me extremely happy and it’s a
goal of mine this year to invest more time in it.
God, there are just so many great things that have happened
this year that I think would be more appropriate to recount in the post at the
end of 2014, so I’ll end the reminiscing here. However, I was on A Beautiful Mess the other day and saw
Elsie’s 28 Before 29 birthday list where she wrote down a list of 28 things to
do before her 29th birthday and I thought it was such a cool idea,
so I decided to do the same thing this year.
1. I started writing it in July as a part of Camp NaNoWriMo, but it's been a bit neglected lately. I really want to finish it by my next birthday, so we'll see how that works out. If I were to go at the same rate as I was in July, I'd probably be done before Christmas, but let's face it - I'll be bombarded with a multitude of tasks and writing 1613 words everyday just won't be possible.
2. I used to be the girl who didn't do gym, if you know what I mean. Thankfully, I've changed my ways and definitely want to try out for a school sports team this year. Let's hope I won't chicken out, guy.
3. I really, really love chicken pho, a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup and my mom makes it super easily, so I'm going to learn how to make it myself this year.
4. Endurance in running has never been one of my strong points, but I'm hoping to sign up for a 5K and actually run it, preferably with a few friends. Possibly Run or Dye?
5. I really have to prioritise learning how to sew well, so that naturally leads to making a dress, something that I'm looking forward to doing.
6. Student Council is something that I get really excited about and I wasn't (and won't be) a part of it in my first two years of high school. I'm not too bummed about it, though because I can't wait to try out for a certain position I've had my eye on since the start of freshman year.
7. Hopefully this dream of mine will materialise either at FIT or a local fashion academy. Fingers crossed. God, I don't even know which class I would pick if I were to take it at FIT, there are just so many options to choose from.
8. "Never Grow Up" is a song that's really special to me, but the picking is so hard to play and I never seem to have the patience to learn it, but that will just have to change this year.
9. This is probably the most vague and near-unattainable thing on my list, but maybe it could happen? Just maybe?
10. I saw this on someone else's list and I didn't even realise that it could actually happen. I've had some people joke about how my handwriting looks like a font, so I figured, why not?
11. I don't think there are many people (if any) that I want to meet more badly than Taylor Swift. I've been a massive fan of her since third grade, nearly seven years now, so I really do have to go see her. Asap.
12. I find instant camera and instant photography really fascinating and the idea of having a photo develop right before your eyes is so intriguing to me, so I'm really hoping to get my hands on one of the FujiFilm ones this upcoming year. Maybe even a Christmas gift to myself.
13. Yes, yes. Challenge accepted.
14. I'm a fashion blogger so I figured that it'd be a good idea to play my part and participate in the local fashion community as well. Expect posts about that if such a thing ends up happening.
15. To be honest, history doesn't interest me that much, but maybe that's because I've only learned about Canadian history which is fairly uneventful. However, I do find fashion and art history really interesting, so I'm planning on tackling some big fashion books this upcoming year to cultivate my fashion knowledge.
Are there any things
on my list that’s made its way on yours? How did you feel at fifteen? Do you
have any advice for this upcoming year? Leave your comments and share your
stories below!
You know what? Your handwriting SHOULD be made into a font. I mean, how do you even write those letters by hand? They're pretty amazing. (By the way, I'm expecting a tutorial on how to make fonts, hehe.)
ReplyDeleteStudent Council is something I don't think I would ever join, because dealing with people sometimes makes me panic and confused. Good luck to you though!
(What does 13 means? I don't understand that :P)
Aha, thank you so much, Melody! I think there's a tutorial floating around somewhere about how to make fonts. I'm hoping it's not too complicated, though.
Delete#13 is just to be able to do a 10-minute plank by the time I turn 16 which is completely random, but I'm pretty excited about it, I think. :P - J
