Hi there! For me, back to school has always been a time to reinvent myself, or if I've already done that over the summer, show everyone that I'm not the same girl I was last year.
But before I get into all of that, I wanted to just quickly mention that this is going to be the last post in my back to school series. I really hope that you guys have enjoyed reading these posts as much as I enjoyed writing them. I tried to make it all inspirational and motivational, but I don't know how that worked out... So let's get into the last one!
I don't know about you, but I'm always trying to improve myself. Whenever I look back on what I did and how I acted the last year, I just cringe. That moment was embarrassing, I was doing something weird with my face and yelling at this guy in this other flashback, I was so selfish that other day... And the list goes on and on.
If you weren't so proud of the way you were last year, didn't get the grades you wanted, whatever it may be, just put it in the past. Whether you're going back to a school where everyone knows you or you're going to a brand new school, don't let the past be a burden and stop you from being the best version of you this year. It's a brand new year and you're a brand new you, so act like it.
Figure out what you want to change about yourself.
Do you want to change how you do in school? How close you are with your family? Or just your wardrobe? The key to making something (especially yourself!) better is to figure out what you want to change. The next step is...
Try to improve yourself in each area of your life - school (if you still attend school), family, friends (and relationships in general), your extracurriculars... All those things you wish you would've done last year, do them now. (Or this year.) All those times you wish you had spoken up about something, (not to sound like a total Swiftie or anything, but) speak now. Do what you want to do NOW because you'll never know when you're going to get another chance to. Put 110% (or more) into everything you do. I mean, isn't it better to work hard than not to work at all? If you set your mind to something, do it with all your heart. But if you need another blog post dedicated to my tips to stay motivated to try my best and all that, be sure to let me know in a comment!
How are you going to change that?
I'd suggest narrowing down the "problem," making it super specific. If you want to improve in school, maybe you want to stay more organised throughout the school year. Maybe it's because you tend to procrastinate (we've all been there). If you're having problems like that, get an agenda (and use it), set aside a block of time to study away from your phone and all your little gadgets.
If you're having trouble talking to your family on a personal level and can't really get past the pleasantries, try a simple, "How was your day?" at the dinner table. Share some less personal problems and slowly, everyone will be able to ease up a bit and be more comfortable. It's not really realistic to think that you'll be able to jump into a heart-to-heart straight away, but maybe someday, you guys will get there.
If it's a fashion thing, well. Let's just say that a small paragraph in one post can't cover that. ;)
Write it all down.
Once you've figured out what you want to change, what steps you're going to take to change them, write it all down and stick it somewhere that you'll see everyday. It's been proven that you're more likely to do something if you write it down. Plus, you'll have a daily reminder not to slack on your goals. Make it all pretty to make it more eye-catching and less like a doomsday countdown or something like that.
You know your goals? Well, work towards them.
Don't slack on those goals. Just don't. It doesn't do anyone any good. Trust me.
How do you feel about the new school year? Are you going to try to reinvent yourself? If so, in which area of your life? And do you guys want to see a tips on how to reinvent your style/wardrobe post? Please leave me a comment down below sharing your thoughts! I'd love to read them and get back to you!
Thank you so much for reading!
