What to Where: Canada Day

justin bieber headers | Tumblr

Hi there!  This post is dedicated to all of my Canadian readers.  Canada Day is coming up shortly on July 1st, so I decided to share some of my Canada Day outfit ideas with all of you.  Hopefully, if you're stumped on what to wear on this patriotic day, this post will give you some inspiration.  Enjoy!

Canada Day 2013 #1

This outfit is perfect if you're going to be spending the day at some kind of carnival or amusement park.  It's probably going to be very hot on July 1st, so the crop top leaves you a bit of breathing room.  Since you're already showing quite a bit of skin with the crop top, I paired it with red high-waisted shorts to cover up a bit more.  Bright, metallic sandals and a simple "statement" necklace top everything off!

1.  ModCloth Aren't You Charming Necklace
2.  BDG Erin High-Waisted Shorts
3.  Lulu's Matte Gold Sunglasses
4.  Brandy Melville Giselle Top
5.  Forever 21 Metallic Strap Sandals

Canada Day 2013 #3

The moment I saw this top on ModCloth, I knew I had to include it in this outfit post.  Partially because it's red and white, but also because it reminded me of the top Taylor Swift wore in one of her music videos.  I paired the top tucked into a simple black jersey skirt.  I think that the way I styled these two pieces might be slightly questionable for some people, but I just love how quirky the outfit is.  Though the Simpsons Converse aren't very patriotic, I thought that they'd be perfect with the other two pieces when worn with some blue socks.  If you're worried about your skirt flying up à la Marilyn Monroe, be sure to wear some shorts underneath your skirt (or dress)!

1.  ModCloth Tea and Trumpets Top
2.  NewLook Pearl Necklace
3.  H&M Jersey Skirt
4.  River Island Blue Lace Frill Socks
5.  Converse Simpsons Chuck Taylor Sneakers

Canada Day 2013 #2

This is the dressiest of all three outfits and it's also the most subtly patriotic of the three.  I went for a simple white dress and paired it with a beautiful pair of faux suede red heels.  To add some interest to the outfit, I added a leopard belt to cinch it in at the waist and some edgy gold jewellery to top it all off.

1.  ModCloth Skull of Rock Earrings
2.  Zara Stacking Rings
3.  H&M Dress
4.  Nasty Gal Leopard Skinny Belt
5.  Forever 21 Strappy Wedges

Which outfit was your favourite?  Are you celebrating Canada Day?  If so, how?  Please leave a comment down below sharing your thoughts!

Thank you for reading!

  1. Hi Juliana!
Love, love, love the outfit choices! Anyways, in the 4th of July post, you showed some lovely clothing pieces that included the American flag. So I was wondering how nice a Canadian flag would look (yeah, didn't work out). Recently, I discovered a picture on weheartit that just stole my heart and melted it - Canadian flag SHORTS! Here's the link: http://weheartit.com/entry/37373808
I was wondering, could you please try to recreate this in a DIY?

    1. Hi there!

Thanks for the sweet compliments, it truly just brightened my day. :) Unfortunately, as you could tell, it's pretty hard to find anything with a Canadian flag on it that looks nice. But the shorts that you showed me actually looked so cool!

I can definitely try to recreate it in a DIY, but the only question is (I'm really hoping that you read this, or else it's going to be super duper awkward) is when you're planning on wearing them? Because Canada Day's tomorrow, so I won't be able to have it up on the blog by then. Maybe Labour Day? I don't know, but please let me know if you get the chance to! It seems like it'd be a pretty simple DIY, so I'm so excited to show it to you. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment AND read my blog! It really means a lot to me, especially since you like it. :)

  2. Haha, no problem at all! I see a writer in your future, seriously. Anyways, I thought of wearing it during the summer; a really cute way to represent Canada all the time! I really like your DIYs, so I know you'll be able to recreate this easily, and I am excited to see what you come up with :)

    1. Aw, thank you. :)

I'm going on 5-week long vacation very soon, so I won't be able to do it soon (I will still have blog posts up, though). I'll get the DIY up as soon as I can, but unfortunately, it will have to be later in the summer (mid-August). I hope that that's alright with you... I'm really sorry that I couldn't get it up earlier, but hopefully, you'll like it. :)
