Beauty Trends I Can't Wait to Try in 2015

Image Credit: Shandi-lee via PhotoPin CC
Hi there! Something that I really got into at the end of 2014 was beauty. Suddenly, I felt like yeah, I should put the effort into completing my outfit with the right hair and makeup. I was also old enough that my parents didn't really care that much about how natural my face looks. Well, they'll make a questioning comment about the substances on my face, but they never made me go scrub it off.

I definitely want to be more adventurous with my beauty looks this year and change things up more often, so here are a few things I'm looking to try out.

Looks for Less: 3 Spring Runway-Inspired Outfits

Every time a new fashion season rolls around, I immediately go on Style.com and find all of my favourite designers and check out their shows.  I usually just freak out over how amazing the clothes are, how they're such geniuses and how I wish I could have those pieces in my own wardrobe.  Unfortunately, because they are designer, a good chunk - if not most - of the population cannot afford them.  That's why today, I decided to share with you three recreations of outfits from the runway that you might actually be able to afford.

Keep on reading if you're interested!  Enjoy!

Current Love: The White Hot Trend

White on White Trend

A trend that I've been pretty in love with lately (as you could probably tell from the title) is the white-on-white trend, or white hot as some people like to call it.  Instead of making a bright colour statement for spring, making a statement in an all-white outfit is definitely really intriguing to me.

To me, the trend itself is like an angelic rebel in a way, at least to me, because it's going against that stereotypical idea that you have to wear bright and colourful clothes as soon as March 21st rolls around.  Which is fine, of course, because that's when I start to delve into the more "cheerful" part of my closet.

Here is some outfits to inspire how you wear this bold trend.

How To: Be Unique With Your Everyday Wear

How To Be Unique

A few weeks ago, I got a request from my good friend, Brenda, to do write a post on how to be unique with your everyday wear, so here it is - enjoy!

3 Fresh Ways to Wear Floral + Tips!

Happy May everyone!  Since the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers," I decided to write about the flowers of fashion - the floral print!  Maybe there's another equivalent for you, but to me, it's the floral print.

I feel weird calling floral prints a trend because it seems like every year, no matter how fashion is feeling, floral is always in-store, tempting you to buy it.  Since floral prints are so common and can look really ordinary in some outfits, here are a few ways to freshen up your spring floral outfits.  I also did a floral outfit earlier this month if you're interested.  This is just going to be in-depth version of it.  Enjoy!
  1. First of all, if your goal is to make wear floral in a unique and different way, go for prints that aren't the standard one.  This might seem a bit vague, saying that there's such thing as "standard" floral print, but just think, what's the most common floral print that you've seen around?  There must be something that pops into your mind.  Of course, there are unique ways to style that "standard" print, but if I think that finding pieces with different and quirky floral prints is awesome.
  2. If you're thinking about pairing a floral top with jeans, add some adventurous accessories to make your outfit really stand out to avoid leaving your outfit too plain.
  3. Floral dresses, oh how I adore you.  Even though it is warming up, at least where I am, adding a fun pair of knee or thigh-high socks (or any socks to be honest) or some funky tights could really transform your outfit and make it one-of-a-kind.  Which technically, most are, but you know what I mean.
  4. Think of floral in the most unexpected places.  Years back, I don't think we would've thought to put floral on combat boots.  But you know what?  It's unexpected, quirky, and adorable.  Check, check, and check.  When you're out shopping, be on the look out for those different floral pieces - they'll be a great addition to your closet.
  5. Mix prints!  Mixing florals with another print can really make your outfit really stand out.

Now, on to the outfits!

Sunday Funday: Sick Me and [Weekly] Loves and Discoveries

Hi everyone! (Isn't this sweatshirt adorable?)

The world was kind of cruel to me this week - the one week I decide to start blogging every day, I get sick. Like, what?  Why is the timing so freaking bad?  Anywho, life is going to throw me obstacles disguised in viruses and I'm just going to have to deal with it.  Therefore, I am blogging.

Basically, on Sundays, it's going to be pretty random what I post about.  It will generally not be fashion-related, it's just going to be kind of a "chill" post, you know what I mean?  This is a chance for you guys to get to know me a little better, I guess.

Going on with the "chill" theme, I'm just going to tell you guys how things have been going, some things I've been loving, and some new discoveries.  In no particular order, of course.

Sketchbook Friday: Flowy Pants

flowy pants

This post pretty much came about when I overheard my friends talking about how much they disliked flowy pants.  I personally love them, but I wouldn't be able to wear them because I'm barely 5'2 and it would swallow me up in a gulp.  (If that didn't make sense to you, well, I don't make sense half the time.)
Since I love these pants so much, I consulted my handy dandy sketchbook and this is what I came up with.

flowy pants

To me, this is kind of a resort look to me - I love how flowy and "chill" - for lack of a better word - it looks.  It just looks so carefree and bohemian and I'm really obsessed with that whole Free People/Anthropologie vibe.  Except the blouse completely switches it up and adds a certain quirky quality to it that is really different.

These are just quick sketches of two floral patterns that I came up with that are options for the flowy, chiffon pants.

That's that!  Let me know what you think in the comments (if you'd like) and thanks for reading!  Have a great weekend everyone!

50's-Inspired Crop Tops

50's crop top

One of my favourite fashion eras is the 50's - the confident and flirty, yet somewhat conservative clothes, the full poodle skirts and the bright red lipstick has always been something that I love.  Though I don't wear clothes inspired by this time period often, or at all to be honest, I've always loved designing dresses and clothes inspired by it.  Today, I decided to show you some of them.

7 Must-Have Galaxy Pieces

Galaxy Trend

Some of you might not like this trend at all, you might think it's tacky, like it's science class on a t-shirt or something, but I personally love the galaxy trend that seems to be popping up everywhere.

In school, I've never actually liked science at any point in time.  I honestly think I hated it, so I guess it's kind of ironic or hypocritical or whatever that I'm pretty obsessed with the galaxy print.  I'm not a fan of the prints with large, more noticeable dots for stars because I think it looks kind of tacky, but I love love love the ones where the colours seem to blend seamlessly into each other and just look so dreamy.

To me, this print is just so different from your ordinary polka dot print, or floral print, etc. and it's a edgier and different and I love things like that.  Adding some edge to my outfits is something that I'm always trying to do.  I don't try to go too extreme in one direction for my outfits.  If I'm wearing a delicate pink chiffon dress with a creamy knit cardigan that gives a very girly and feminine feel, I'll throw on a pair of black studded boots to balance things out.  I'm kind of weird that way.  I think that the galaxy trend will just be a really cool addition to anyone's closet.

"Fashion Is a B*tch."

That's pretty much the most accurate and interesting statement I've ever come across.

Current Love: Hair Bows!

hair bows
A trend that I've been really loving recently are hair bows.  As a kid, I'm sure my mom would've loved to put one in my hair everyday for school, perfecting my image of a little schoolgirl, but I guess it never ended up happening, at least not often enough for my teenage self to be satisfied when looking back on it.
