Don't Wanna Dress Up? 3 Costume Alternatives

chilly n

Hi there! Though some of us are super enthusiastic about dressing up for Hallowe'en and plan our costumes a month ahead, others just aren't that into or don't have the time to put together and awesome posum costume. If you don't want to look like a total party-pooper and want to look a bit festive, keep on reading for some outfit ideas or simple little things you can buy or make to Hallowe'en-ify yourself!

Be an animal!

Cute little animal ear headbands are a really simple way to add a little Hallowe'en to your outfit, especially if you're sporting it to school and don't want to go all out when everyone's in their regular clothes. Unless that's what you're planning on doing, then kuddos to you, my friend!

Costume Inspiration: Costume Alternatives #2

1. Cat Ears Headband (it's sold out everywhere, so here's the DIY)
2. Forever 21 Mouse Ears Headband
3. Walmart Minnie Mouse Ears (or DIY your own!)

Don a mask!

Masks are a great thing to add to any fancy dress that you might already have in your closet. It's also a good piece to add to a casual to semi-casual dress if you're at school (and they allow masks) or something like that. The outfit below definitely leans more on the costume side of things, but there are also a bunch of really pretty and inexpensive masks that you can buy from stores like H&M and Target.

Costume Inspiration: Costume Alternative #1

1. Forever 21 Romantic Crochet Tulle Dress
2. Target Golden Flower Mask
3. Topshop Black Filgree Mask
4. H&M Mask
5. H&M Feather Mask
6. Nasty Gal Prina Earrings
7. River Island Statement Necklace
8. New Look Platform Court Shoes

How about Hallowe'en-themed graphic tees?

Fun graphic tees are a really easy way to be a little festive, but not go over the top. If you're not keen on spending a bunch of money on items like this, you could easily DIY your own with fabric markers/paint and plain tees you could find anywhere from Michael's to your local thrift store to H&M.

Costume Inspiration: Costume Alternative #3

1. Brandy Melville Skull Top
2. Urban Outfitters Cropped Pumpkin Tee
3. Forever 21 Playful Kitten Sweater
4. Target Hallowe'en Pumpkin Tee

Which no costume costume look was your favourite? Any other suggestions? What are you going to be (or what are you going to wear) this Hallowe'en? Leave your comments below!

Thank you so much for reading!

  1. My favorite was the 'be an animal' (I was swayed by the cuteness of headbands) and I even planned to DIY my own cat ear headband, but never actually got around to it so I just went for wearing Halloween colors instead.

    1. You should definitely try DIY-ing them next year! I made my own this year and I thought they were just the cutest thing. :)
