DIY: Minecraft Beanie

DIY Minecraft Creeper Beanie

Hi there! Before I get into this post, I just wanted to say that sometimes, life doesn't want to give you good lighting at 2 pm where it actually looks decent, so you just gotta take pictures where the sun wants to be nice to you, hence the messy background. My little brother just couldn't find it in him to make his bed, I suppose.

If you know any teenage boy, stereotypically, you've probably heard of a little PC game called Minecraft. I've heard my fair share of Minecraft talk, especially from my little brother. Though he's not a teen yet, he has been obsessed with this game for about a year or two now. It was hist birthday last week, so I decided to make him a bit of Minecraft gear... a Creeper beanie! I always think the best gifts are handmade, so I was so excited to make this for him. Thankfully, he loved it, making me a very happy sister. It's also a super easy DIY, so let's get into it!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

DIY Minecraft Creeper Beanie

  • plain black beanie
  • white and green fabric marker
  • black felt
  • soccer ball (about the size of your head and yes, I do realise that mine's seriously messed up)
  • fabric glue OR needle and thread
DIY Minecraft Creeper Beanie

Put the beanie onto the soccer ball to stretch it out and make it easier to paint on.

Figure out where you want the black parts of the Creeper to be and draw it on using a white fabric marker. Then, match the size up with the felt and cut it out. Consult this photo if you want a better idea of proportions and what not.

Draw random squares with the white fabric marker to represent the pixels. Colour a few white randomly.

Then, layer green over the others. Keep mixing the colours until all your "pixels" are coloured different shades of green.

Either glue or sew your Creeper eyes and mouth onto the hoodie and you're all done!

    1. Aha you're funny. :D I just happened to run out of the white fabric marker a few days ago, so maybe another time. And of course I wouldn't forget that! (Watch me forget it so let's knock on wood to prevent it.) - J
