Wardrobe Favourite: September's Trusty Topshop Bucket Bag

Hi there! “Wardrobe Favourite” is a new column I’m starting that is pretty self-explanatory. Every month, I’ll share with you one thing I’ve just been obsessed with all month. In my weekly outfit posts, I try my best to change things up and put together outfits you haven’t seen before, so you usually don’t get to see the things I’ve been loving, so hopefully these posts will do a better job of showcasing those favourites.

This month, my favourite isn’t actually a clothing piece, but a black and white bucket bag that my friend got for me from Topshop when he was in Vancouver. If you’ve seen bucket bags previously, you’ll agree that the shape is pretty much standard. This one’s got a nice full tassel made of a similar material as the bag and a strap around the top that kind of closes the bag in a way. I don't know about you, but I absolutely despise it when bags have tassels that are limp little things. A little bit of extra material goes a long way, for sure. There’s also a nice thick strap so I can wear the bag either on one shoulder or crossbody, plus it’s all adjustable.

Basically perfect.

It looks like a tiny little thing, but can actually fit so much in there. I can typically fit my headphones which are pretty big already, my wallet, a bunch of other essentials and still have plenty of room left. I’ve been carrying this bag everywhere with me and the gym is no exception. I typically walk to and from the gym (we’ll see how that goes down once the weather plummets to way below zero), so it’s close enough that I don’t always feel the need to shower right away as I can just walk a bit and be in the comfort of my own home, but far enough not to be able to run home really quickly if it turns out that I forgot something.

Since there isn’t really anything to “properly” close the bag – not that it’s meant to be able to – it’s a perfect size to stick my water bottle in. Of course, it’ll be popping up the top, but if I secure the bag with the strap it comes with, it fits in there snugly and I can still throw a ton of other things in the bag.

Overall, I’m so completely in love with the bag and I don’t know if you’re reading this right now, but thank you so much for getting it for me! It’s simple, but there’s beauty in its simplicity and is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. I’m positive that I’ll be using this for a really long time and will remain my go-to bag for a very, very long time.

What are your thoughts on the bucket bag trend? Have you seen the trend floating around before? What have you been loving this month? Leave your comments and share your stories below!

Thank you so much for reading!
