What to Where: Memorial Day

Large

This post is a shout out to all of my American fans out there (hopefully there are some because if there aren't,  this would be quite awkward).  Anywho, as you may know, Memorial Day, a day Americans spend honoring all those who died protecting and serving America through the army.

Since it's quite a patriotic day, I decided to put together three outfits that will hopefully inspire your weekend wardrobe, whatever it is you may be doing.  Enjoy!

Memorial Day 2013 #1

This is outfit is for those of you who are just going to be spending the day walking around town or something super casual.  I didn't want the patriotic piece of this outfit to be too in-your-face, so I picked some faded and vintage-y leggings with the American flag on it.  I toned down those leggings with a dark sweater and the Converse add to the casual vibe of the outfit.  The men's watch and quilted leather bag dress the outfit up just a bit to avoid looking too sloppy.

1.  ModCloth Flashin' Forward Sunglasses
2.  Orient Metal Blue Men's Wristwatch
3.  ASOS Nude Quilted Crossbody Bag
4.  Forever 21 Open-Knit Star Sweater
5.  BDG Americana Leggings
6.  Zara Rustic Linen Scarf
7.  H&M Sneakers

Memorial Day 2013 #2

To me, the patriotic piece in this outfit is pretty subtle.  I went for a really girly and flirty feel for this outfit with the red heels and red lipstick.  I fell in love with this beautiful jumper from Topshop, but it is a bit pricey for a jumper, so any basic one you have laying around would do.  The high-low cut of the skirt adds to the whole feminine feel of the outfit and the headwrap just tops it all off.

1.  TopShop Knitted Applique Panda Jumper
2.  Forever 21 Box Pleated High-Low Skirt
3.  Urban Outfitters Americana Heart Sunglasses
4.  ModCloth New Hairdo Headband
5.  CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipstick in Hot
6.  Kimchi Blue Peep-Toe Heel

Memorial Day 2013 #3

This last outfit is definitely the dressiest.  I added a navy blue belt to the white dress to add a bit of interest and cinch it in at the waist.  The pineapple choker adds a quirky touch to the ensemble and the cozy grey cardigan is perfect if it's still a bit chilly where you are.  You might think that these heels are really tacky or whatever, but I think that they're pretty appropriate, but definitely not if you're going to a super fancy restaurant or something along those lines.  If I were going somewhere really fancy and classy, I would definitely switch out those heels for a simple pair of red pumps.

1.  TopShop Pineaple Collar
2.  H&M Cardigan
3.  H&M Dress
4.  American Apparel Unisex Leather Belt
5.  Moonar Career American Flag Pumps (if you prefer a Lita-style boot instead, check this one out here)

Do you have any plans for the weekend?  Which outfit was your favourite?  What are your thoughts on patriotic pieces of clothing?  I'd love to know, so please leave me a comment down below!

Thank you so much for reading!
